Our Review
A late-Victorian property in the heart of Edinburgh, the Carlton Hotel sits on North Bridge, opposite Waverley Station and a stone’s throw from Princes Street. Given the building’s historic status, the rooms do tend to vary in size and layout, but they’re all sumptuously decorated. You can avail yourself of a wide range of facilities including a bar, a brasserie and a leisure club with pool.
This hotel occupies a landmark late Victorian building which was originally a hospital and is very elegant. It is situated opposite Waverley railway station on North Bridge where it meets the Royal Mile.
The lobby makes for an impressive welcome and it's sweeping staircase leads to the bar and restaurant area on the first floor.
The bedrooms vary in size but are generally spacious. Every room is of the highest quality, with deep sumptuous colours in three separate designs and state of the art facilities. As you would expect of a hotel of this nature, all rooms are well equipped and have nice clean bathrooms. There is a fridge in the room but it is not stocked.
The leisure facilities in the hotel are superior to most you find in hotels. The are squash courts, aerobics studio, sauna, steam & jacuzzi as well as a swimming pool. The fitness suite is over two levels and has every type of machine and equipment you will need!
The hotel does not have its own car park but has an agreement with the local NCP garage at Cowgate to offer guests' a discount. Guests staying in the premium rooms are entitled to free parking.
