Location is fabulous, excellent city centre position.
Staff have a good service reputation, only too happy to help
Rooms are basic, clean, functional. All are en suite.

Our Review

Unlike most budget hotels, the Grassmarket has the distinction of being housed in a listed building. A friendly property with a good reputation, it’s situated in the area of the same name: just off the Royal Mile, in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. This means that it’s very central, but the surrounding area can be a little noisy at night.

room was in the attic ... walls were damp ... we were given had 2 single beds pushed together... Dirty and Seen it's day.... very noisy as room was above the bar and it was open till 0300 hours... Shower cubicle was poor standard.... the doors are noisey when theyclose... Room was functional, but very small and difficult to find.... disabled access is difficult to many of the rooms.... some of the rooms are in a part of the building that is not served by the lift.... room was spotlessly clean....
